Projects Undertaken

Ministry of Agriculture – Livestock Identification and Traceability System

The Ministry of Agriculture uses the LITS system to maintain a record of all the cattle in the country, and also track the exposure level of each animal to contagious diseases. The Ministry wants to assure the consumers of the end product about the non-exposure of the end-product to diseases. The system also has to use data from other government of Botswana systems (e.g. National citizen identification system for identifying cattle owners).



Our role was in providing project and technical management services, field rollout services, engineering services, maintenance services on the LITS system for the Ministry of Agriculture. Although we were not the originally contracted service providers for the system, our employees were the primary technical team and primary project management team under a sub-contractor agreement with the contracted service provider. This system is one of the largest technology projects undertaken by the Government of Botswana.

Central Statistics Office – Vision 2016 Monitoring and Evaluation System.

CSO uses the Vision 2016 M&E system to monitor adherence to the targets set in the National Vision. It also uses to systems to sensitise role players and stakeholders of their required contributions for the National Vision to become a reality.

Our role was to re-engineer the system to use Web based interfaces, so as to make it easily accessible to all role players and stakeholders across the economy.

Ministry of Trades and Industry – Document and Workflow Management System

MTI needed a system to assist its Records Management Section provide efficient services to its customers. This would in turn ensure the Ministry as whole was more efficient in servicing external customers, as correspondence would be expedited.

Our role was to implement an Off-the-Shelf system that met the customer’s requirements. We recommended a solution by one of our partners which was accepted by the customer. We also provided Project Management services during the implementation of the project. Further to this we provided maintenance and support services for the system.

Department of International Trade, Department of Industrial Affairs, Department of Cooperatives, Central Statistics Office – Design and Implementation of Local Area Network

These Departments needed their existing Local Area Network (LAN) to be upgraded and also to improve on the uptime of its network plant installations.

Our role was to design a LAN that assured of better uptimes and also met the prevailing LAN design standards. We were also providing Project Management services during the rollout of the network plant.

Botswana Police Service – Design and Implementation of a Customer Focused and Service Centric Website

BPS was looking to revamp its Website to assist it service its customers more efficiently. Looking at changing customer patens, the Service wanted to rebrand its core services and realign with the changing customer habits. Moving services online was a key priority behind the revamped Website.

Our role was to design and implement a Website that was targeted at the BPS customers. Our second role was to ensure visitors that came to the BPS Website left the Website with an improved image of the Service. We were additionally required to provide post implementation support services for the Website.

We provided the services in partnership with Weblogic a Botswana based Website Development Company. Our part of the service was to ensure the customer requirements were fully captured and that the developers had a design template on which to base their technical solutions.

Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana – Design and Implementation of a Customer Focused and Service Centric Website

CAAB was looking to revamp its Website to assist it service its customers more efficiently. Looking at changing customer patens, the Authority wanted to rebrand its core services and realign with the changing customer habits. Moving services online was a key priority behind the revamped Website.

Our role was to design and implement a Website that was targeted at the CAAB customers. Our second role was to ensure visitors that came to the CAAB Website left the Website with an improved image of the Authority. We were additionally required to provide post implementation support services for the Website.

We provided the services in partnership with Weblogic a Botswana based Website Development Company. Our part of the service was to ensure the customer requirements were fully captured and that the developers had a design template on which to base their technical solutions.
 


Projects Undertaken

Department of Agricultural Research – Seed Multiplication Information Management System

The Department of Agricultural Research uses the SMIMS system to monitor the performance of their contracted growers against set targets. It is also meant to ensure that the end product being sold to customer farmers is of the requisite quality.

Our role was in designing, developing, implementing and maintaining the system as well as designing and implementing a high availability server/database solution for DAR. Included in the services was two-years post implementation support.

Motor Vehicle Accident Fund – Project Management of CEMS

The MVA was looking for an ERP solution to enable its Finance, HR and Claims departments to provide better service to their customers. The Fund also wanted to manage and monitor the growth of the overall fund versus its liabilities as provided for under the MVA Act.

Our role was in the provisioning of Project Management services to the Fund throughout the lifecycle of the project.

Water Utilities Corporation – Performance Management System

The Corporation needed a Performance Management System, and in particular they were looking for a Balanced Score Card type PMS system. The purpose of the system was to assist the Corporation with improved customer service by measuring accurately the output of each employee.

Our role was to select an Off-the-Shelf system that met the customer’s specific needs. We recommended a system from one of our partners which was accepted by the Corporation. Our second role was to provide project management services during the implementation phase of the system, and also provide support services post-implementation.

Botswana Investment & Trade Centre – Performance Management System

The Centre needed a Performance Management System, and in particular they were looking for a Balanced Score Card type PMS system. The purpose of the system was to assist the Centre with improved customer service by aligning employee performance with organisational performance. The Centre also needed assistance with ensuring all the Business Units were supporting the strategic intents of the Centre. There was also a need to ensure performance evaluation and rewarding of good performance was aligned to the mandate of the Centre, which is to generate investment for Botswana.

Our role was to select an Off-the-Shelf system that met the customer’s specific needs. We recommended a system from one of our partners which were accepted by the Centre. Our second role was to provide project management services during the implementation phase of the system, and also provide support services post-implementation.

Public Procurement and Assert Disposal Board – IT Infrastructure Design and Implementation

The Board was not happy with the design of its infrastructure as it was prone to constant downtimes. The load balancing among the servers was also an issue.

Our role was to design a more efficient utilisation of the server infrastructure and also ensure the new design guaranteed better uptimes for the servers. We were also charged with upgrading the server Operating Systems to the latest Microsoft Operating Systems, implementing a high availability solution, and exposing any benefits of the new Operating Systems to the Board.

University of Botswana – Design and Implementation of a Customer Focused and Service Centric Website

UB was looking to revamp its Website to assist it service its customers more efficiently. Looking at changing customer patens, the University wanted to rebrand its core services and realign with the changing customer habits. Moving services online was a key priority behind the revamped Website.

Our role was to design and implement a Website that was targeted at the UB customers. Our second role was to ensure visitors that came to the UB Website left the Website with an improved image of the University. We were additionally required to provide post implementation support services for the Website.

DailyNews and Kutlwano Websites – Design and Implementation of Customer Focused and Competitive Online Newspaper and Online Magazine Websites

The Department of Information Services (DIS) of the Government of Botswana was looking to revamp its online publications presence to make it more responsive to the continuous online news changes. The DIS was also looking to ensure the look and feel of both the Online DailyNews and Kutlwano were appealing to the young online reader, who was the primary visitor to the online versions of both publications.

Our role was to design and implement the DailyNews and Kutlwano Websites to ensure they were competitive when compared with Botswana and regional news and magazine sites. Our second role was to ensure the sites stayed true to the Government of Botswana guidelines on how the Botswana Government should be represented online. Our third role was to ensure the customers that visited the publications online would feel a connection to the hard copy based versions of the publications.
